What  is Kratom

Mitragyna speciosa (ketum, kratom or kratum) is a tropical tree in the coffee family Rubiaceae and native to Southeast Asia. Mitragyna Speciosa trees usually grown to a height of 30 ft tall and 15 ft wide. Its leaves are a dark green color and can grow to over 7 inches long and 4 inches wide. Kratom leaves have been used traditionally for their medicinal properties. Kratom is psychoactive, and the leaves are chewed by native users to uplift mood and to treat health problems. Kratom behaves as a μ-opioid receptor agonist like morphine and is used in the management of chronic pain, as well as the treatment of opioid withdraw symptoms. However, its effects differ significantly from traditional opiates such as morphine. Kratom use is not detected by typical drug screening tests, but its metabolites can be detected by more specialized testing.
